Calli McMurray is an award-winning journalist reporting on the infrastructure of science and health.

She’s a reporter at The Transmitter, a neuroscience news outlet. Previously, she interned at Spectrum and The Chronicle of Higher Education, where she won the 2024 David W. Miller Award for Young Journalists.

She has an M.A. in science journalism from New York University and a B.S. in neuroscience from the University of Texas at Austin. Her work has appeared in STAT News, The Texas Observer, KFF Health News, and elsewhere.

When she’s not writing about science and health, she enjoys reading fiction, baking bread, and spending time with her cat Carl Sagan.
